Amputee Featured in Best-selling Game

Call of Duty is one of the most famous games in history! It is fun, engaging, and always innovative. If you’re not familiar with the game, it is a first-person shooter set that was initially released in 2003. Every year, Activision (the company that produces the game) releases new versions of this game while depicting a certain era or warzone (e.g. Word War I, Modern Warfare). However, this year the company surprised people by releasing a new edition of the game that has an active soldier who lost a limb. {Spoiler for game ahead}

Season Three of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare

The season three of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare was released on April the 8th, and it had a surprise for everyone! The character Alex, who seemingly sacrificed his life at the end of the story, is still alive. Alex did lose one of his lower limbs, but he’s still on the battlefield to support his brothers in arms. This gesture was highly appreciated by the online community, as it sheds some light on the struggles of amputees and how they can recover and even join the force again.

Takeaway

Adding game characters with limb loss is a great initiative that will hopefully be adopted by more companies. This feature makes the game more realistic, fun to play, and helps the cause of amputees by reminding the general population about the incredible sacrifice these individuals went through to protect their country. It also helps other amputees with non-war-related limb loss to feel more included and relatable when playing the game.
